Can I book a charging point in advance?
Freshmile offers a simple and reliable user experience that aims to maximise the availability of charging stations for users. The booking (reservation) option is available on some networks. A “reservation” tab is displayed on the charging point page when the feature is available on the charging point.
Is the real-time status reliable?
Yes. The map displays the last known status of charging stations. Information is updated on servers in real-time. For technical reasons, information pertaining to defaults may be delayed by a couple of minutes.
Do you publish a real-time map of charging stations ?
You can check the map at https://charge.freshmile.com/map. You will see the charging stations’ real-time status (available, busy, out of order, in maintenance) as well as all available connectors, applicable tariffs, maximum available power and any other useful information.
I saw comments on Internet that a charging station is out of order. Can I trust this?
No. Only the real-time map freshmilecharge.com gives you accurate information on charging stations: available, busy, out of order, in maintenance.
Why do charging points change from red to green status, whereas there hasn’t been any repair carried out on site?
Charging stations appear busy (red) mostly when they lose the Internet connection. When the connection is re-established and that the server has re-checked that the station works correctly, its status automatically switches back to available (green). Losses of Internet connection can last for seconds, minutes or hours. They are usually caused by the mobile phone network.In this case, we recommend the use of a Pass to start charging, which is possible when the chargers accept local start without connection to the network.

How to buy a Freshmile card?
Visit the online shop and choose a RFID card or RFID key ring. It will be shipped on the next day: https://charge.freshmile.com/shop
How to start charging?
If you have a Freshmile RFID card or key ring, swipe it on the charging station. If you have no Freshmile card, you can use the Freshmile mobile app or directly scan the QR code shown on station with any mobile phone.
Do I have to sign up?
No. Signing up is not mandatory. You can use your smartphone to charge on demand. However, your data will not be stored in the Freshmile App (invoices, charge history...).
Can I choose my secret code?
Unfortunately not, the code is generated randomly and automatically.
Can I pay directly at the charging station with my debit card or credit card?
Some stations are equipped with contactless payment devices. On stations which are not equipped, you can still use your card to pay through the smartphone, whether you have a Freshmile account or not.
I forgot my secret code, what can I do?
Call the hotline number shown on the station. The operator will ensure that you are the originator of the current session and will either give you the code or stop the charge for you.
What is the secret code?
A secret code is generated for any charging session started with a smartphone. You will need this code to stop charging. This code is a security that prevents other people to stop charging your car without you being aware.
Is a subscription necessary?
The purchase of a Pass is without subscription or commitment. When you charge your car, you will only pay for your consumption. We recommend that you check the tariff on the online map. Some networks offer subscriptions entitling you to preferential rates. We invite you to consult the online shop, section "Subscription" https://charge.freshmile.com/shop.
Can I follow the progress of my charging in real time?
To follow the charging of your vehicle, go to the Freshmile App, section "sessions" in progress. The information is updated on the server in real time. This way, you can determine when the end of the recharge is near.
How do I start a charging with my Pass?
Please proceed as follows:
- Connect the cable on the vehicle side
- Swipe your Pass in front of the reader
- Connect the cable on the charger side
- If the charger has a trap door, remember to close it on your cable.
How do I stop a recharge with the Pass?

How do I find a charging station?

How do I stop my current charging session?
Go to your current session and click on the blue "stop" button at the bottom right of the screen to initiate the stop charging request.
How can I be sure that my charging has started?
We invite you to check that your vehicle indicates that charging is in progress on its dashboard, that the colour of your indicator light next to the socket has changed colour (if your vehicle has one), that the charger makes noise.

How do I add credits to my account?
After logging on https://charge.freshmile.com or from your application, click on your profile at the right top of the page and select “My balance”. You will see your balance and add credits by choosing an amount (€ 5, € 20, € 50, € 100).
How do I close my account?
This procedure is carried out by our administrative department. Send an email to support@freshmile.com to ask for your account to be de-activated (60 days).
How do I get my remaining credits reimbursed?
To request a balance refund, log in to your Freshmile account at charge.freshmile.com and follow these steps:
- Go to the "Wallet" tab.
- Select the “Balance” section and click “Learn More.”
- Click on the link “How to get a refund on your balance?” to access the refund form.
- Complete the form by entering your personal information: last name, first name, IBAN, and BIC.
- You have no ongoing charging sessions.
- There are no unpaid invoices. Please settle any outstanding balance beforehand.
How do I pay my charging sessions?
To pay your charging sessions, you can use the available balance on you account. The corresponding amount will be debited from your balance each time you charge. Remember to check the minimum balance required to start charging with this payment method.
I lost my Freshmile RFID card or key ring? What can I do?
You can de-activate your Pass or key ring from your own space, under the "Space" heading. You will be able to order another Pass or key ring from the online shop. If you need help, contact support@freshmile.com.
Where can I open an account?
Visit the https://charge.freshmile.com page. Signing up is free of charge. There is no monthly subscription to pay. No strings attached, no hidden fees.
Can I charge even if I have no more credits?
A minimum balance is always required to start charging. To avoid any inconvenience during your next charge, we recommend that you add credit to your account regularly to ensure that you have a sufficient balance. At any time you can check your balance via your account. If a credit card is associated with your account, you will be debited automatically from your bank account.
Can I test the service before signing up?
Use your smartphone at a station to charge on demand in guest mode. Scan the QR code and follow the instructions.
What do you do with my personal data?
Freshmile complies with the GDPR in place in the European Union. The appointment of Freshmile’s data protection officer has been declared to the French data protection authority CNIL (declaration number DPO-1449). Check our privacy policy on https://www.freshmile.com/privacy.
I have a subscription, is the renewal automatic?
Renewal is automatic by default as soon as you subscribe. You can deactivate it at any time from the "subscription" section.
How do I change my account password?
Go to https://charge.freshmile.com/register and click on "forgotten password".
I want to change the language of my account, what do I do?
You can change the language of your account from the "settings" tab next to the shopping cart.
How do I activate my Pass?
To activate your Pass, go to the "Pass" tab on your Freshmile account. Enter the Pass number (6 digits on the back) and the code (5 letters below the number).
How long will it take to process my order and when will it be delivered?
Your RFID card is shipped within 2 working days. The delivery then depends on the postal service's delivery delays.
How do I change the email address of my Freshmile account?
Please contact support@freshmile.com with the email address of your current Freshmile account and the email address that should replace it.
Where can I find the activation code for my Pass?
The activation code can be found underneath your Pass number. You don't have any activation code? Contact support@freshmile.com.
How do I disable email notifications?
Go to the "settings" of your account and deselect the notifications you do not wish to receive.
Is it possible to add several Passes to the same account?
Yes, go to the "Pass" section to activate a new Pass. You can also rename it for simplicity.
Is the balance attached to my account allocated to only one of my Passes if I have more than one?
No, the balance can be used by all the Passes that have been activated on the account.
How do I rename a Pass?
The Pass must first be activated. For more information go to the dedicated section. Once your Pass has been activated, click on the 3 small dots to rename the Pass.
Mobile app
Is my account closed when I uninstall the app?
No, these are two separate matters.
I do not find the Freshmile app in my store, what can I do?
The app is available for iPhone and Android. For other devices (iPad, Windows Phone, Blackberry…), you can scan the QR code on charging points or type in the xfm.fr/ short URL displayed on charging points in order to start and stop charging.
The app does not work on my Android. What should I do?
If you encounter an issue, please send an email to support@freshmile.com reporting the model of your phone and the exact version of the operating system.
The app does not work on my iPhone. What should I do?
Remember to update your iPhone and applications. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the application will work for iPhones running a version prior to iOS 11. If you encounter another issue, please send an email to support@freshmile.com reporting the model of your phone and the exact version of the operating system.

How much does the account creation cost?
The account is free. Signing up is free of charge. There is no monthly subscription to pay. No strings attached, no hidden fees.
How much for a charging session?
Tariffs depend on charging networks. Tariffs are displayed on stations, on the app and on the online map https://charge.freshmile.com/map
How are my bank details processed?
We do not store your payment details. Payments are processed on secured platforms operated by our partners Banque Populaire and Paypal. We do not have any access to your bank details at any moment during the transaction.
I have credits on my account, but I can’t start charging. What should I do?
Check that your account balance is greater than the requested provision on the charging point. Add credits if need be and try again.
I think I have been wrongly invoiced. How to claim a wrong charging session price?
We invite you to check on our map www.freshmile.com/map or via the mobile application the tariff of the terminal in question and to recalculate the price of your charging session. Do you notice a billing discrepancy? Send an email to support@freshmile.com with the details of your charging session: charging point reference, date, time and email address of your Freshmile account if applicable.
The charge lasted only a few seconds and stopped. Will I pay?
No, you will not debited for failed charging sessions. On most stations, charges inferior to 2 minutes or 500 Wh do not trigger payment.
Why do you ask for a payment authorisation of € 9 on charging stations where the tariff is € 2 per hour? Will I pay € 9 or € 2?
The € 9 are a payment authorization, not an actual payment. It works in the same way at a gas station: you introduce your card then you are allowed to start filling your tank up to € 99 for example. This means that your bank has given a payment authorization up to € 99. When you hang up the nozzle at the gas station or when you unplug you car at the charging station, the exact price is calculated by Freshmile and sent to your bank for payment. Hence you pay only the price of your charging session. This mechanism is necessary everywhere price is not known in advance.
What does the € 9 authorisation or minimum balance mean?
It means that a minimum balance of € 9 is required to start charging. This provision is calculated based on the tariff and prevents your account balance from becoming negative.
What payment means are available?
Debit card, credit card (Mastercard, Visa).
How do I pay for my charging sessions by credit card?
We invite you to add your bank card to the payment methods associated with your account. After each payment you will be automatically debited from your bank account.
A bank guarantee € 50 is required from your bank, what does this mean?
When paying by credit card, a bank guarantee € 50 is required from your bank as a security of payment. This amount corresponds to a payment authorisation, not an actual payment. It is the same system as at the petrol station: "help yourself to fuel, authorised amount € 99"simply means that your bank has agreed to a maximum payment of € 99. When you disconnect your vehicle, the exact amount is calculated by Freshmile and sent to your bank for payment. You only pay the amount of your charging. This mechanism is necessary wherever the price of the charging you make cannot be known in advance.
What is the payment deadline for my Freshmile invoice?
When an invoice is issued, the payment period is 15 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated on the invoice.
If I have registered a credit card, do I also have to fund my account?
No, you can only pay for your charging sessions using your credit card. A bank guarantee will be set, only the price of your charging will actually be debited.
How can I find out the tariffs applied to a charging station?
Go to https://charge.freshmile.com/map or the Freshmile App and activate your location to find the charging stations around you. Also use the filters at your disposal, the price will be mentioned.
I have paid the balance of my account, but the VAT is missing from my invoice. Is this normal?
This is a receipt and not an invoice. There is no VAT applicable. Please check your transactions as you charge: the VAT applied will be shown for each charging.
Does the billing continue even if the vehicle is no longer drawing power and charging is complete?
Some tariffs may contain a connection time component to encourage vehicle rotation. Check the rate on the online map from your application to make sure that the rate is in effect at that charging point.
Why are the current tariffs not displayed on the charging station?
Each operator is free to set the tariff of its choice. We invite you to always check the tariff on the online card to confirm the tariff you will be charged when using Freshmile (Pass or App).
What is 3D Secure?
The 3D Secure authentication system is designed to secure online payments by credit card. Please contact your bank for any further information.
What is the purpose of the balance attached to my account?
It is a deposit of money on your Freshmile account. It allows you to start charging on stations and pay for your purchases in the shop. To start a charging, your balance must always be equal or higher than the minimum required by the charging station tariff (indicated on the online map and on the app).
How charging points work
Do charging stations have a cable for my vehicle?
On quick chargers, the cable is attached to the station. You don’t need to bring your own cable. For other stations, you usually have to use your own cable.
Do I have to pay for parking on top of charging?
It depends on the local parking policy. Check for signs around the station.
Why does my car not charge at the power indicated on the station?
Each vehicle accepts a maximum charging power. Hence a vehicle with a 7-kW onboard charger can’t draw 22 kW, even though the charging point can deliver such power.
My cable is stuck at the charging point. What should I do?
We invite you to contact the support team at the number on the terminal. They will be able to provide you with remote assistance.
What if a vehicle occupies a parking space in front of a charging point without using it?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide a solution. For this type of incivility, we invite you to contact the municipal police and the town hall to ask for measures to be taken and to improve the signposting of the spaces reserved for EVs when charging.
How do I contact support?
You will find the 24/7 hotline number on the charger.
Do I have to pay separately for parking and charging when I use a pay station in a car park?
Refer to the signs around you for the parking space. As for the charging rate, check the rate on the online map.

I am a client with another electric mobility services provider. Can I use charging stations operated by Freshmile?
Check with your operator. Note that you can always charge on demand using your smartphone in order to enjoy a cheaper price.
I am in front of a station and I am not sure that the Freshmile card is accepted. What can I do?
Swipe your card on the station. If the card is accepted and your account balance sufficient, then the charging session will start automatically.
My company plans to install charging stations for our company car park. Will we be able also to use public charging stations?

What services does Freshmile offer ?
For installers and maintainers, Freshmile is your partner for chargers activation, network monitoring, remote maintenance, coordination of on-site maintenance, provision of supervision software for all installed chargers and maintenance contracts.
Whom does Freshmile sell its services to?
As an installer or maintainer, you can pay directly for Freshmile services and repackage them into the quotation for your clients. You can also put us in contact with your clients for us to sell our services directly to the clients.
How long for an activation?
You can count with 15 minutes per activation. Freshmile assists you over the phone and carries out remote tests that will document the proper functioning.
Don’t forget to book a phone appointment with our operations center before going to the site.
Can a Freshmile representative attend a client meeting with me?
Freshmile is a young dynamic team and we strive to be as close as possible to our partners. We will answer all your questions by email and phone. For large strategic projects, we can come with you.
Does Freshmile sell equipment?

What about power management?
To avoid the fact that grid connection becomes a limiting technical factor or a cost factor, it is important to anticipate power management needs.
To do so, Freshmile developed algorithms allowing to allocate available power on any given number of charging points, by managing a queue of priorities such as arrival time, departure time or user status.

Is there any additional equipment to install in the charging stations?
The stations communicate with Freshmile servers through an Internet connection.
Some stations are sold with modem, others are sold without modem. If you have a doubt, please check the equipment's technical documentation. Some manufacturers offer equipment already set up in factory for Freshmile (Freshmile inside). Such equipment is plug & play.
Equipment can be connected with Ethernet cables on existing broadband access in buildings. In this case, contact us in advance to get information about necessary network parameters.

The equipment depends on the charging station make and model. You will usually need a computer, an RJ45 (Ethernet) cable and a USB stick.
Which charging stations are compatible with Freshmile?
Freshmile services are compatible with more than 300 models of chargers including those of major manufacturers such as Schneider Electric, Hager, ABB, Legrand, DBT, Technolia, Ingeteam, etc. The protocols supported are OCPP 1.5 and OCPP 1.6 in SOAP and JSON. The technical operations center, the client relationship center and the software development unit are located at the company headquarters in Strasbourg. The whole team is 100% specialized in electric vehicle charging.
Who carries out the activation of charging stations?
You carry out the activation of charging stations on site after commissioning the installation. Freshmile prepares for you the activation process (stickers to put on charging points, creation of charging points in software, configuration files, etc.) and provides you with all elements you will need.
Freshmile never carries out tasks on site as to avoid any problem with guarantee management.

What price to sell charging sessions?
Freshmile helps and advises you to establish your tariffs. Pricing schemes are proposed to the owners of the chargers according to its specific characteristics: expected user profile, parking policy, private or public character, etc. Many billing units are possible: per kWh, per time, per power, per flat rate, with or without cap, with or without night rate.
How to benefit from the Advenir subsidy?
Freshmile offers are labelled Advenir. The Freshmile software allows the transmission of data to Advenir, which is essential for the payment of the subsidy. However, the Advenir subsidy is only rewarded in France.
How to start charging?
There are several options available to you. If you have a Freshmile Pass, present it on the Pass reader located on the charger. If you don't have a Freshmile Pass, you can use the Freshmile mobile application or scan the QR code (using the QR code scanner on the Freshmile App, or another dedicated application) on the charging point. Let the web browser on your phone guide you to start charging.
How is the roaming ensured?
Roaming is a mechanism that allows to open stations to clients of other mobility services providers, such as fuel card users or holders of cards issued by car manufacturers.
Freshmile has entered into dozens of roaming agreements with electric mobility services providers in Europe, either in direct relationship or through middlemen such as roaming platforms Hubject and Gireve.
The process is defined by a roaming mandate included in the management contract.
What do you offer in terms of power management?
When the electrical power available on a site is not sufficient to ensure the full power operation of a station of several charging stations, it is necessary to set up a power management solution. Dedicated electrical equipment can be installed on site. Contact your installer to have him study the available power and identify the power management equipment adapted to the charging stations you have chosen. For security reasons, Freshmile does not recommend the use of cloud-based power management solutions, as the efficiency is dependent on the response time of the remote server connection.
Is it possible to pay directly with a credit card at the station?
Some chargers are equipped with electronic payment terminals with or without contact. Where this is not the case, you can pay by credit card using the Freshmile mobile application, whether you have an account or not.
Can I book a charging station in advance ?

What does Freshmile do with personal data?
Freshmile wants to be a reference in terms of privacy protection. No non-necessary data is ever collected (ex: make and model of EV). Freshmile complies with the GDPR enforced in the European Union, including users approval for sending emails and newsletters.
Thanks to the guest mode, Freshmile never forces user to sign up for the service when they use publicly accessible charging stations.
What does Freshmile do to make stations visible?
Freshmile publishes public access points on the online map with a real time display. The public charging stations are also published on the national platform data.gouv.fr and are included in the mobile applications of third party mobility operators and in the GPS databases used by in-car navigation systems.

The call center is internal. Phone operators process only calls pertaining to EV charging. The end-user is hence sure to talk to somebody who has been perfectly trained and knows his or her problems. Statistics show that up to 90% of issues can be handled directly over the phone with a satisfied client.
All operators are trilingual (English, French, German). It is possible to put in place a 24/7 hotline.
Who carries out installation and maintenance work?
Installation and maintenance works are carried out by local installers belonging to large national or international groups of companies as well as by independent installers with whom we have built solid relationships over time.
These contractors are chosen on the base of their ability to intervene on a given territory. Procedures between their technical teams and Freshmile’s operations center are in place and work in a proven way.
These contractors have the necessary technical qualifications to handle EV charging stations and are used to work with equipment we operate. Proper execution of missions and respect of schedules are guaranteed.

Who collects payments?
Freshmile collects payments and retrocedes the monies to the station owner on a quarterly basis, by bank transfer or credit note. Freshmile retrocedes payments in full or in part, depending on conditions in the management contract. The process is defined by a payment collection mandate included in the management contract.
Collected payments are transferred to a deposit account with the Crédit Municipal de Strasbourg, and interests earned are fully given to the Crédit Municipal, which uses these proceeds to finance charity projects.
This mechanism ensures that Freshmile does not use the deposits as working capital and avoids any debate on who should benefit from the interests earned.
How are recharge cards or badges distributed?
Users can order a RFID card or a RFID keyfob for € 4.99 on the online shop charge.freshmile.com. Freshmile sends the item per post with a welcome letter.
Each station owner receives a Freshmile RFID card during the activation process. This card allows to start charging for free in admin mode.

Since 2021, Freshmile has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Rexel Group, a world leader in the distribution of electrical supplies listed on the Paris stock exchange.
The technical operations center, the client relationship center and the software development unit are located at the company headquarters in Strasbourg. The whole team is 100% specialized in electric vehicle charging.
Who can charge on stations?
There are two kinds of stations: public access and private access.
Public access: all EV drivers can charge, either with a Freshmile card or with their smartphone without signing up (ex: cities, shops)
Private access: only authorized users are allowed to charge (ex: staff, collective housing residents)
Only publicly accessible charging stations are displayed on the online map and the Freshmile app.
The guest mode for charge on demand allows anybody to charge without giving away or sharing personal data: no app to download, no email address to type in, no password to create.
Freshmile’s guest mode for charge on demand is the guarantee of charging stations which are really open to anybody.
On which charging stations is the Freshmile card accepted?
Freshmile has entered into dozens of roaming agreements with public charging networks all over Europe, where the Freshmile card is accepted. It is possible to charge on stations directly operated by Freshmile as well as on 20,000 charging points from partner networks.
